The B-Complex is seeking visual artists to participate in an art show for Halloween and Day of the Dead. In addition to presenting their historical or contemporary interpretation of Halloween and traditional Day of the Dead imagery, artists may also explore the physiological, psychological and/or philosophical concept of Fear: What frightens you? What is your phobia? We encourage visual art that is frightful, gothic, ghoulish and fantastical from professional artists and art students. Visual art may be composed of any medium such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, glass, installation and media, including audio and video. All artworks will be displayed in The B-Complex’s 8,000 square foot gallery. The B-Complex is also seeking individual artists and artist teams to create an installation for a Spooktacular Haunted Trail around the secure grounds of The B-Complex. We request site-specific sculptural, sound, light and video installations inspired by the theme History of The B Complex. Artists may use the real history of the site for inspiration or create their own frightening factious story about an event that happened in the past. Once all submissions have been received, the curators will weave a story for the audience with all the installations. Artists interested in creating an installation for the trail may make an appointment to visit the space. All
art will be exhibited at two public art parties on October 31st and
November 1st, 2008. Artists
should send photos, CDs, DVDs and/or videos stating the title, medium
and size of work(s) with a twenty dollar entry fee (U.S. check or
money order made payable to The B-Complex) per artist/artist team.
A maximum of three pieces per entry fee is permitted. Also include
an artist statement and artist bio (2 pages maximum), and a S.A.S.E.
for return of all materials. The names of all accepted artists will
be included in promotional materials. Send submissions to: B
